Born Allen Stewart Konigsberg in Brooklyn, New York on December 1, 1935, Woody Allen adopted his stage name at the age of 17, and began a career as an actor, screenwriter, director, and playwright. He brought a new, psychoanalytic style to cinema, creating conflicted urban characters who confessed their inadequacies and tried to deal with their neuroses. This category deals with all elements of his art, together with critical appreciation.
