Dave Scatchard was born in Hinton Alberta and grew up in Salmon Arm BC. He played his junior hockey with the Portland Winterhawks and went on to play for both the Syracuse Crunch and the NHL's Vancouver Canucks. He played with the Canucks as a centreman until a trade sent him to the New York Islanders in December of 1999.
